Natural opal is a semi-precious stone that is formed by the deposition of hydrated silica in the cracks and voids of volcanic rocks. This opal has an oval cabochon shape, is yellowish white in colour, with iridescent reflections of different colours depending on the angle of light. The size of the opals in this lot ranges from 6.90x5.00 to 7.20x5.30 mm and the weight is 0.50 carats. The opal has excellent clarity, with no inclusions visible to the naked eye, and has not undergone any treatment to improve its appearance or durability. It comes from Ethiopia, where some of the most beautiful and varied opals in the world are found.
