This natural peridot is worked in the shape of a trillion, has a light green color and dimensions of 6.10x6.00 mm with a weight of 0.75 carats. Its clarity, with no visible inclusions and the fact that it has not undergone any treatment, underlines the authenticity and superior quality of the stone. Sourced from Pakistan, this peridot is ideal for personalized jewelry, adding sophistication and sparkle to any collection.
Olivine is an abundant mineral, but precious quality peridot is quite rare due to its chemical instability at the Earth's surface. Olivine is usually found in the form of small crystals and tends to exist in an unvalued state for decorative use. Large crystals of forsterite, the variety most often used for cutting peridot stones, are rare; as a result olivine is considered to be a gemstone.
In the ancient world, exploitation of peridot, then called topaz, began around 300 BC on the island of St. John in the Red Sea. The main source of peridot olivine today is the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona. It is also mined from other locations in Arizona and Arkansas, Hawaii, Nevada and New Mexico at Kilbourne Hole in the USA; in Australia, Brazil, China, Egypt, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Norway, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
